Charity Care Policy and Application Guidelines

North Mississippi Health Services (NMHS) strives to provide high quality care at a reasonable cost to its patients through its subsidiary hospitals, clinics and dialysis units. NMHS recognizes its responsibility to render medically necessary services to those who are unable to pay in full for their care. NMHS also is aware of the additional cost to all patients for charity care and is therefore committed to effectively manage these costs. NMHS will authorize charity care for its services in accordance with the established guidelines described below.

Charity Care Guidelines:

To be considered for charity care, the patient and/or responsible party must complete:

Financial (Credit) Statement

Charity Request Form

Financial Counseling Interview

Medicaid Application

The patient and/or responsible party must be denied for or have exhausted all Medicaid benefits.

The services rendered by an NMHS subsidiary hospital, clinic or dialysis unit must have been deemed medically necessary and non-elective by the patient's admitting physician.

The patient and/or responsible party must meet the income and asset guidelines established annually.
